Two friends-enthusiasts who have dedicated themselves for years to woodworking in their spare time, in 2011 decided to make a shift: they left the city life and moved to the countryside, in the quiet valleys of Val Curone. Here they created a small carpentry shop and wood supply that allows them to stay in contact with nature and to give free rein to imagination in the processing of reclaimed wood.
Creative reuse of scrap wood
Wandering among pruning of fruit trees, piles of wood fated to the stove, and roots of old trees abandoned in forests, Massimiliano and Sergio find their raw material that they cut, dig and turn in order to “bring to light the beauty that was hidden there”, as they say. It is in the very nature where they find the inspiration to work in a fully sustainable way with great attention to the environment. In fact, the provision of the raw material is local, really zero km, the workmanship is manual with small workshop tools, no toxic substances are used. This is how they give new life to the wonderful material that would otherwise be destined for waste.
Why we like them
When we saw the vases made of wood roots by reWooding we were fascinated by their shapes and shades of the material. Then, taking them in hand, we caught their incredible lightness, warm and soft touch feeling due to the surface smoothing and their sinuous forms. The technical ability of these two craftsmen to transform pieces of abandoned wood, thoroughly reinventing them in order to leave a strong testimony of the natural environment from which they come, is indeed excellent.
