It was a sunny afternoon, when Massimiliano and Sergio, two carpenters of Val Curone, went to visit a farmer to buy some seasonal fruits. Right there, in his garden in a pile of wood destined to the stove they found an unusual strain of oak. With permission of the farmer, the guys took the oak, brought it into their workshop and began to study its shape and arrangement of its fibres. And so in this way RADICI vase was born, a charming wood decorative vase characterized by typical veins and blackened cracks that eye-catch and stimulate imagination of the observer. The artisans have decided to leave the top of this vessel irregular – so called “a natural edge” technique – so that the bark presence retains the charm of the forest where the oak tree grew.
It’s hard to see where the craft ends and where the art begins in the works of Massimiliano and Sergio, two friends-carpenters from Val Curone (Piedmont) who have set up their own laboratory, called reWooding, in the countryside. Similarly, it is difficult to understand if the magic of their objects is more due to their technical expertise and experience, or due to colours, fibre and forms that only nature can give birth to. We are confident, however, that their creations have their own soul able to attract us and provoke our most natural wonder.
